What is a "Win Strike Rate"?
Quite simply the percentage of our runs that end with champagne in the winners enclosure! This is the figure you will see quoted on the Racing Post for all jockeys, trainers and owners, and is a vital tool for fair comparisons!
Pompey Ventures have a small, select stable because we have chosen to focus on quality rather than quantity. So, we simply don't have enough horses in training to make the millions the bigger syndicates do. Similarly, although you may see larger syndicates with lots of winners, they also have lots more runners! Therefore the best way to do a fair comparison is to look at win strike rates.
We are incredibly proud of our first year's results, achieving a very successful winners strike rate of 17.54%​​

Ayr Gold Cup
Not technically a winner — but this one definitely deserves a place here.
Tuco produced another huge performance to finish a close second in the Ayr Gold Cup, one of the most competitive sprint handicaps of the season. Despite testing conditions, he ran a superb race to bring home an impressiv £43,506 for his delighted owners!

Charlton Handicap - Goodwood
What a way to start!
French Affair made a dream debut for PV, landing the Coral Charlton Handicap at Glorious Goodwood on his first run for Jennie Candlish. Slowly away and caught behind a wall of horses in the 26-runner field, Billy Loughnane stayed cool, switched him back to the rail and French Affair flew home to get up by a neck at 14/1.

Tuco Salamanca wins for the 7th time!
Having to do things the hard way, challenging on a wing, at a track which, over the last few days has very much favoured front runners. Despite that, he once again showed his class and attitude, staying on strongly to land his second £50,000 pot at Newcastle and record a initial Timeform rating of 111 in the process. ​

Street Dancer absolutely destroys the field at Wolverhampton to win emphatically and break her maiden under Oisin Murphy.
Soon in front, she travelled strongly throughout, putting the race to bed in decisive fashion by over 2.5 lengths. Hopefully this can be the start of an exciting upward curve for her.

Held up at the rear, he made smooth headway through the field before moving into second over a furlong out. From there he dug deep in a sustained battle to the line, getting on top close home to seal another excellent win, under a great ride from Sean D Bowen.

It Dunt Marra powered home to break his maiden at Lingfield under Stevie Donohoe this evening. Back in calmer waters following his run in Listed company, he travelled prominently throughout, and was always doing enough at the finish to secure a well deserved first victory.

A third win for Bone Marra!
On his return to the synthetic surfaces, he added another victory to his tally under a cool, composed Stevie Donohoe ride.
Bone had to do things the hard way here, but won in impressive fashion and confirms our thoughts that he will continue to progress as a 3 year old.
His All-Weather form now reads: 1121

Dublin Bay wins in good style and claims his third career success at Wolves under an excellent front running ride from Stevie Donohoe.
Breaking sharply, he soon took control of the race and made every yard of the running. He had to dig deep inside the final furlong as the challengers closed, but he kept finding when it mattered and held on gamely for another great win.

Win number 8 for Tuco!
Dropped back to 5f, Tuco was held up in midfield before travelling smoothly into contention and making his move just over a furlong out. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, he went on to win cosily under a perfect ride from Jerry Chau for Team Hong Kong and take the £85,000 Shergar Cup Dash..

Ardad Steve got his head back down on the line to win his maiden in a thrilling finish at Lingfield, showing plenty of toughness on his first attempt over seven furlongs and on the all-weather. Under an excellent ride from Charlie Bishop, he battled all the way to the line and got back in front where it mattered.

Dublin Bay fends off his stablemate, to score his forth career win with a well-backed, "wide margin thrashing" (the commentator's words, not ours!) at Wolverhampton this evening.
Strong in the betting this morning, Marco gave him a superb front-running ride, dictating matters from the outset before powering seven lengths clear to land the money in style.

Another tidy victory at Dunstall Park, this time showing he has scope to improve from his mark of 78 as we head into the All-Weather season.
He found the 7 furlongs there no issue and we’re again, delighted for his owners.
