We were absolutely thrilled with our third and final purchase from the Goffs Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale and we genuinely believe she’s one to get excited about! Lot 354A, a sharp, precocious daughter of Ten Sovereigns, joins the Pompey Ventures team offering tremendous appeal, with a physical as impressive as her pedigree promises. Pre-sale, we’d promised ourselves we would only buy one or two… but every so often a yearling comes along that’s worth breaking your own rules for. This filly was exactly that.

George Boughey yearling filly with Pompey Ventures Racing Syndicates

She is a half-sister to Novelette (OR 86), a three time, 2 year old winner for the Christfords, rated OR 86 and originally a £28,000 yearling purchase. Novelette went on to record the fastest breeze of the 2025 Goffs Doncaster breeze up sale, and sold for £410,000 to M.V. Magnier.

An athletic filly, with a pedigree stacked with speed, she’s everything we’d hoped to find in our first yearling to send to Classic-winning trainer George Boughey - an outfit which has consistently developed top class juvenile fillies in recent seasons. His rise has been nothing short of remarkable and the excellent relationship we have with him is something we value immensely.

At Pompey Ventures, our approach to yearlings has always been clear: buy selectively & partner with proven trainers. We don’t chase numbers — we chase the right horses. This Ten Sovereigns filly fits that strategy perfectly. She combines pedigree, physical strength and early speed with a trainer whose record with juveniles is exceptional.

Why George Boughey?

Since taking out his licence in 2019, George Boughey has climbed the training ranks at remarkable speed — sending out over 500 winners in under six years and proving himself one of the most exciting and progressive trainers in Britain.

His CV already includes:

  • Classic victory with Cachet in the 2022 QIPCO 1,000 Guineas

  • Multiple Group 1 successes, such as Via Sistina in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh

  • Major wins at Royal Ascot and across Europe

  • Repeated 100+ winner seasons, confirming both depth and consistency

  • A major milestone in 2025: the acquisition of Craven House Stables on Hamilton Road — a clear statement of long-term ambition

Before training, Boughey built a global foundation of experience: from the bloodstock world to working abroad with Gai Waterhouse in Sydney and Lloyd Williams in Melbourne, before returning to Newmarket as assistant to Hugo Palmer.

Today, George is widely recognised as a leading force in Flat racing — combining sharp recruitment, patient development, and an eye for early talent. Exactly the profile we wanted for a filly of this quality.

And With George… Comes Billy!

George Boughey and Billy Loughnane with Pompey Ventures Racing Syndicates

Pompey Ventures owners already know how valuable Billy Loughnane is - one of the most exciting young jockeys in the country and a trusted partner to both George and PV.

Billy has steered multiple PV winners, including Oliver Show, Francis Drake, and five-time winner Tuco Salamanca. His rapport with George and his feel for young, improving horses make him the ideal partner to help us ready this filly for the track. We can’t wait to share Billy’s feedback with her owners next season.

Stallion Spotlight: Ten Sovereigns

A brilliant, unbeaten Group 1-winning two-year-old and the European Champion Sprinter of 2019, Ten Sovereigns was all class. He won the Middle Park at two, then exploded in the July Cup at three — stopping the clock in the second-fastest time ever recorded.

From his first three crops he has already produced multiple Group 2 performers, and this filly looks every inch the speedy, forward type he’s becoming known for.

Harry’s Half Million – She’s Qualified

This filly is also qualified for the £500,000 Harry’s Half Million 6f race at York on 20th August 2026 offering:

  • 1st: £250,000

  • 2nd: £100,000

  • 3rd: £50,000

  • 4th: £25,000

  • 5th–10th: £12,500 each

A huge pot. A proven trainer. A filly bred to be fast... An exciting target!

A Filly Worth Getting Excited About?

We think so! This Ten Sovereigns filly has the pedigree, the physical, the attitude, and will shortly be on her way to the perfect home at Craven House with a Classic-winning trainer at the top of his game.

Add in the Pompey Ventures partnership and the ever-brilliant Billy Loughnane… and we think we’ve put together something very special - and a standout opportunity for anyone looking for racehorse ownership with George Boughey.
