Speed, Class and Classic Quality
There was a lot that appealed to us with this filly from the outset.
She is a beautifully classy filly with plenty of quality about her, and physically she was very much the sort we were looking for at Goffs Premier.
She is by a proven sire of fast, high-class horses, out of a Dubawi mare, with a Classic-winning second dam further strengthening the page.
Physically, she reminded us a lot of another Kodiac filly Ollie trained called Glamis Road.
Glamis Road won on debut as a two-year-old before going on to win the Listed Prix Hérod at Saint-Cloud later that season.
There are a lot of similarities between the two physically, which certainly caught our eye when we were assessing this filly at the sale.
The more we looked at her, the more boxes she ticked. A physical we liked, a pedigree with speed and depth, and a type that Ollie already knows well.
She was exactly the sort of filly we were hoping to find.

PEDIGREE DEEP DIVE
We really liked this filly’s pedigree because it combines proven speed with quality and a strong, productive female family.
One of the first things that stood out to us was that all four of her grandparents were Group 1 winners. There is a lot of quality close up in the pedigree, on both sides.
Her sire Kodiac is an established source of high-class, speedy horses and comes from the outstanding Rafha family, which also produced the successful stallion Invincible Spirit.
Her dam, Eyeshine, is by Dubawi, adding further class, toughness and versatility.
The balance between Kodiac’s natural speed and Dubawi’s ability to produce horses with quality and stamina is exciting.
The second dam, Casual Look, was a winner of the Group 1 Epsom Oaks. A Classic winner this close in the pedigree gives the filly valuable depth and suggests there is plenty of substance behind the speed.
The wider family is also strong, with several successful performers.
Stallion Spotlight
Kodiac
Kodiac has been one of the most consistent sources of speed and precocity in European racing for a long time.
A son of the great Danehill, he is out of the Group 1 Prix de Diane winner Rafha, making him a half-brother to another hugely influential stallion in Invincible Spirit.
Kodiac himself was a useful sprinter, but it has been at stud where he has really made his name. He has become particularly well known for producing fast, forward two-year-olds and holds the record for the number of two-year-old winners sired in a single season.
He has now produced more than 100 Stakes winners, with his best runners including Group 1 winners Best Solution, Campanelle, Fairyland, Tiggy Wiggy, Hello Youmzain, Good Guess and Babouche.
What we like about Kodiac is that, although he is very well known for speed, his better horses are not all one-dimensional sprinters. Best Solution, for example, was a triple Group 1 winner over middle distances, while others have performed at the highest level from five furlongs through to a mile and beyond.
He has also become an increasingly important sire of sires, with sons including Ardad, Kodi Bear and Prince Of Lir all going on to produce Group 1 performers of their own.
For this filly, putting that proven Kodiac speed over a Dubawi mare out of an Oaks winner was a combination we found particularly interesting.
Why Ollie?
TRAINER
Ollie Sangster has become one of our most successful training partnerships, with 24 winners for PV, a current win strike rate of over 19% and more than £307,000 in prize money since we first started working together.
From Manton he has trained some of our biggest success stories, headed by 8 time winner Tuco Salamanca, while continuing to deliver consistently with horses across the team.
Ollie’s own career has gone from strength to strength. He is already a Group-winning trainer, while Flight and Simmering finished second and third in the 2025 1,000 Guineas.
We have a very close, hands-on relationship with Ollie and the team at Manton, with excellent access to the yard and our horses. It’s a set-up we know extremely well and one that has been particularly successful for both PV and our owners.
A Strong Start
ROCHESTOWN STUD
All of our yearlings will begin their careers with PV Partner Dave Byrne at Rochestown Stud, where they will be broken in and pre-trained before joining their respective trainers towards the end of the year.
It’s a system that has worked really well for us. Dave has excellent facilities at Rochestown and it allows us to keep a very close eye on each horse through those important first few months. It also means we can give owners plenty of regular updates as they progress.
The plan is then for the yearlings to come over towards the end of the year, hopefully in time for another PV Yearling Parade, which proved so popular with owners last year, before they move on to their trainers.
