About Jennie

Based at Cheddleton in Staffordshire, Jennie Candlish runs a successful dual-purpose yard alongside her partner and assistant trainer, Alan O’Keeffe. Together they have developed a close-knit and increasingly ambitious operation, combining a wealth of experience with a practical, hands-on approach. Individual attention, a strong understanding of each horse and open, honest communication with owners are central to the way the yard is run.

Jennie has enjoyed notable success over jumps, including Grade 2 and Grade 3 victories with Cross Kennon and Party Rock, but in recent seasons the yard has also made an increasingly strong impression on the Flat. The 2025 season proved a real breakthrough, producing 40 Flat winners in Britain—almost three times her previous best—plus a first Listed success on the Flat when the remarkable Alzahir recorded his seventh victory of the year in France.

That progress has continued, and French Affair provided another very special moment when winning the Coral Charlton Handicap at Glorious Goodwood on his first start for the stable. It was the perfect beginning to our partnership with Jennie and Alan and a wonderful example of the care, thought and attention they give to every horse.
