We are delighted and extremely excited to announce that our new recruit, Kingmaker will be heading to the British & Irish Champion Trainer, Willie Mullins.
KINGMAKER (Timeform rating 83) was purchased by the team at Tattersalls yesterday. He has been consistent in his last three starts before coming to the sale and his finishing effort at Kempton last time out was massively eye-catching. Interestingly, Zarakerjack, who finished 3rd in this race was also on our shortlist for a different project.
When we first pulled him out from his box, his presence and size were immediately striking - especially impressive for a 3 year old, with so much scope to improve for National Hunt style racing. He was a standout physical for a jumps horse and that clearly didn't go unnoticed, with Jonjo O’Neil as the underbidder!
Kingmaker offers the perfect dual purpose profile, to continue his career over in Ireland. I suspect the main reason we were able to afford him is simply because he is still a maiden - otherwise he would likely have been out of our reach. He has shown a genuine attitude towards his racing. His results simply reflect that races just haven’t been run to suit him this year.
He will now be gelded and given a short break to recover before heading to Closutton and into training with Willie.
We are thrilled to be able to add the worlds best jumps trainer to our infantry and we are already hard at work preparing for a trip to Closutton EXCLUSIVELY for share owners!
This will be seriously good fun.

In an extraordinary new milestone, Willie Mullins has captured his first Breeders’ Cup victory with Ethical Diamond storming home to win the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Del Mar - a landmark triumph on the flat for a trainer best known for his dominance over jumps! This latest success cements Willies’ reputation as one of the most versatile and accomplished trainers in global racing.

"Kingmaker was my NAP of the sale for a flat horse to go jumping. He has SO much size and scope, accompanied by a clean vetting. I’m amazed we were able to get him for only 55,000gns, I had more in the budget to get him! I think being a maiden put a few people off, but in my opinion there is nothing wrong with this horses attitude towards his racing.
I cannot wait to host our first owners morning on the gallops at Closutton!"
