This was a colt we kept coming back to throughout the sale. Strong, powerful and incredibly consistent every time we saw him, he quickly became our favourite colt of the week.

We were delighted to secure a colt we rated so highly — he would have been very hard to leave behind!
He caught our eye straight away. A robust, well-bodied son of first season sire Dragon Symbol, there was a lot to like about this colt physically. He is extremely well put together, with a powerful shoulder and plenty of strength through his hindquarters. We felt he was the best son of this sire we had seen.
He scored extremely well on our physical assessments and he impressed us from the moment he came out of his box. The more we saw him, the more we liked him — not just physically, but in his attitude too.
He was relaxed, straightforward and professional every single time.
That consistency was a big factor for us and showed his attitude was every bit as good as his physical.
A Familiar Look
There are very definite similarities to Bone Marra, who we bought as a yearling by another first-season sire and who has developed into a very good horse for us. This colt has that same strong, solid look about him, and while he looks forward enough to think we can have plenty of fun with him at two, we also see him as a horse with the size and scope to continue to improve as a three-year-old.
A Source We Know Well
He was consigned by Baroda Stud, a source we already know particularly well.
Bone Marra, Dublin Bay and Bob Mali all came from Baroda as unraced yearlings and each went on to reach ratings of 85+.
All three were classy winners at two and continued to progress with their racing, developing into good-quality three-year-olds. That gave us plenty of confidence going back to Baroda, particularly when this colt already reminded us so much of Bone Marra physically.
Hopefully this lad can continue that success.

Back to Manton
This colt will join Ollie Sangster, continuing a partnership that has already worked extremely well for us.
Ollie has a 19% win strike rate with Pompey Ventures and knows exactly the sort of horse we like to buy — one who can get going at two but still have plenty of development ahead of them.
This colt looks to fit that model particularly well.
“He’s a fast, hardy-looking fellow and I’m really looking forward to cracking on with him early.”
Ollie Sangster
That is very much the plan.
A £250,000+ Target
He is also qualified for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes, held at the 2027 Irish Champions Festival, giving us another valuable target to work towards during his two-year-old campaign.
Stallion Spotlight
Dragon Symbol
Dragon Symbol was the fastest three year old of his generation, winning five races and earning a Timeform rating of 120+.
At three, he finished first past the post in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, and his race record backs up just how consistent he was at the highest level, being Group 1 or Group 2 placed on five occasions.
A son of Cable Bay, he combines plenty of speed and toughness, with a strong sprinting pedigree, performing at the top level from five to six furlongs throughout his three-year-old season.
We were really impressed by what we saw from his first foals and yearlings, which have been consistently well received, with breeders and pinhookers describing them as strong, precocious-looking individuals with plenty of hip and movement.
For us, he was a first-season sire we were particularly keen to buy into.
Dragon Symbol x Fools and Horses
PEDIGREE DEEP DIVE
The strongest feature on the dam’s side is how close the speed is.
His dam, Fools And Horses, is by Group 1-winning sprinter Twilight Son and is a full sister to Twilight Calls, a five-time winner who finished second in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock. This colt is also her first foal.
That gives him a very direct link to a proven top-class sprinter, which is exactly what we like to see in a colt we hope can be sharp enough to make an impact at two.
Further back, there is plenty more quality The third dam, Marika, was a Listed winner and produced a family that includes Kick On, an 11-time winner who won three Group 3 races and a number of Listed races in Britain and Scandinavia.
Further down the page are more high-class performers, including Best Of The Bests, winner of the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan, and Ramatuelle, winner of the Group 1 Prix de la Forêt. The family also includes Shaanmer, a Group 3 winner who was runner-up in both the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris and Group 1 Prix Jean Prat.
The family traces back to Nordica, winner of the Listed Carna Fillies Stakes at Naas.
For us, it gives him exactly the sort of pedigree we like — plenty of speed close up, with enough depth behind him to think he can keep developing with age.

Why Ollie?
TRAINER
Ollie Sangster has become one of our most successful training partners, with 24 winners for PV, a current strike rate of over 19% and more than £360,000 in prize money since we first started working together.
From Manton he has trained some of our biggest success stories, headed by eight-time winner Tuco Salamanca. Ollie has taken Tuco from an unraced purchase and a mark of 61 to an official rating of 110 and a Timeform rating of 119, developing him into a genuine top-class sprinter and one of the horses that has really helped put PV on the map.
He has also done particularly well with horses such as Bone Marra, Dublin Bay and Bob Mali — all bought as unraced yearlings and all multiple winners at two.
Bob Mali was PV’s first yearling purchase, and proved a brilliant advert for the system. He won his first three starts for Ollie at two and finished his two year old season rated 88 after just four runs.

We have a very close, hands-on relationship with Ollie and his team at Manton, with excellent access to the yard and our horses. It’s a set-up that has been particularly successful for both PV and our owners.
We’re very proud of the partnership we’ve built with Ollie and the results we’ve achieved together, and firmly believe there is plenty more to come.
A Strong Start
ROCHESTOWN STUD
All of our yearlings will begin their careers with PV Partner Dave Byrne at Rochestown Stud, where they will be broken in and pre-trained. The plan is then for the yearlings to come over, at the start of the new year, hopefully in time for another PV Yearling Parade, which proved so popular with owners last year, before moving on to their respective trainers.
It’s a system that has worked really well for us. Dave has excellent facilities at Rochestown and it allows us to keep a very close eye on each horse through those important first few months. It also means we can give owners plenty of regular updates as they progress.
Owners who would like to see their horse before then are also very welcome — we’re happy to arrange visits to Rochestown by request.
