✅ €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes Eligible
We’re delighted to introduce our latest yearling purchase — a really exciting filly by Blackbeard, who will also become our first horse in training with George Scott, the newest addition to the Pompey Ventures training team.

She caught our eye straight away. Sharp, intelligent and beautifully athletic, she showed and presented herself brilliantly at the sale and made an immediate impression on both George and the PV team.
She went straight to the top of our list.
"I absolutely love her...and I don't say that lightly!"
George Scott
George absolutely loved her and was extremely keen to buy her. So much so that, had she gone beyond our budget, he fully intended to keep bidding and buy her himself.
He made it very clear he wasn’t going to let her go easily.
That sort of conviction from the trainer matters to us. We want to buy horses that our trainers genuinely want in their yard, and with this filly there was never any doubt about how strongly George felt.
Everything about her says early two-year-old.
George has asked for her to arrive with him in mid-November rather than January, after being broken and pre-trained in Ireland, so he can make a proper early start with her.
The plan is straightforward: give her every opportunity to be ready for the early part of the season and see where she takes us.
And when the trainer buying her says:
“I’m going to say it… I think she’s a Royal Ascot type!”
George Scott
…it certainly gives us plenty to look forward to!
Perfect Timing
At €78,000, we felt we had secured her very well — particularly knowing how much further George was prepared to go.
Since then, Blackbeard’s results on the track and the prices achieved by his stock in the sales ring have only strengthened that view. Just days after we bought her, Blackbeard’s daughter Pensando A Te won the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket, while two Blackbeard fillies subsequently sold at Goffs Orby for €145,000 and €180,000.
George’s own form has only added to the excitement. Since we bought the filly, he has landed a Group 1 and Group 2 double at Longchamp with Caballo De Mar and Wimbledon Hawkeye — another reminder of exactly why we were so keen to add him to the PV training team.
It certainly reinforced the feeling that we had bought the right filly at the right time, for the right trainer.
A Little Update from Ireland...
Our filly is absolutely thriving in Ireland. First reports from Dave confirm he couldn't be happier with how she's developing, describing her as "a little tank" and adding that she "looks gorgeous"! Have a listen to Dave's update here 👉

A £250,000+ Target
She is also qualified for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes, held at the 2027 Irish Champions Festival, giving us another valuable target to work towards during her two-year-old campaign.
Stallion Spotlight
Blackbeard
Blackbeard was one of the standout two-year-olds of his generation, winning six races at two, including the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville and the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket. He was Europe’s only two-year-old to win two Group 1 races that season and was crowned Cartier Champion Two-Year-Old Colt.
A son of No Nay Never, Blackbeard was all about speed and precocity, winning from five to six furlongs and showing top-class form from the start.
His first crop is already making an impression on the track. Pensando A Te became his first Group winner when landing the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket in September, and now has an official rating of 102 after just three runs. Coming just days after we purchased our filly, this was an incredibly encouraging result. There has been plenty of confidence in Blackbeard in the sales ring too, with his first yearlings selling for as much as 500,000gns.
For a filly bought specifically with an early two-year-old campaign in mind, Blackbeard is exactly the sort of sire we were keen to buy into.
Blackbeard x Deac's Girl
PEDIGREE DEEP DIVE
There is a lot to like on the dam’s side of this filly’s pedigree.
Her dam, Deac’s Girl, is by Churchill and out of Kaabari, a daughter of the hugely influential Seeking The Gold. Kaabari produced five winners from seven runners, including Cape Castle, who went on to produce Thundering Nights.
Thundering Nights won the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes and the Group 3 Snow Fairy Stakes, and was also placed at Group 1 level in the Prix Jean Romanet.
More recently, the family has produced Thundering On, a daughter of Thundering Nights who won the 2026 Oaks at Epsom and the Group 3 Salsabil Stakes.
Go a little further back and there is even more depth to the pedigree. Cloud Castle won the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes and was Group 1 placed, while the family also includes Queen’s Trust, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and Domestic Spending, a multiple Grade 1 winner in America, with several other Group 1 winners appearing further down the page.
So while the immediate appeal of this filly is very much the speed and precocity coming through Blackbeard, there is plenty of quality further back in the pedigree too.
For us, it gives her a really nice mix — a sharp, early-looking filly by a top-class two-year-old sire, with a strong female family behind her.

Why George?
TRAINER
George Scott is a trainer we’ve known for some time and we have been patiently waiting for the right opportunity to add him to our training team.
Based in Newmarket, George has built an increasingly impressive record both at home and internationally. He has now trained Group 1 winners in Britain, France and Germany, including Bay City Roller’s ten-length win in the Coronation Cup at Epsom this year.
His 2025 season was his best yet, with close to 60 winners worldwide, £1.6 million in prize money and Stakes winners in seven different countries, earning him the title of 'International Trainer of the Year'. He has been particularly successful in the Middle East and in Bahrain alone, his record currently stands at 19 winners from 49 runners — giving him a 39% strike rate. This winter, he is expanding further with a new permanent base at Meydan. He has also enjoyed success at Royal Ascot, with Isle Of Jura winning the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes.

We’ve been hugely impressed by what George has achieved and feel he fits the PV team perfectly. He is young, ambitious and very hands-on, but also incredibly approachable — with a real willingness to communicate with owners and keep them closely involved. We also really like the way George campaigns his horses and his ability and willingness to travel the right horse when the opportunity is there.
We’re really excited to finally have our first horse heading his way.
A Strong Start
ROCHESTOWN STUD
All of our yearlings will begin their careers with PV Partner Dave Byrne at Rochestown Stud, where they will be broken in and pre-trained before joining their respective trainers.
It’s a system that has worked really well for us. Dave has excellent facilities at Rochestown and it allows us to keep a very close eye on each horse through those important first few months. It also means we can give owners plenty of regular updates as they progress.
The plan for this filly is, all being well, to come over in November so George can make an early start with her, giving her every chance of being ready for an early debut.
Owners who would like to see their horse before then are also very welcome — we’re happy to arrange visits to Rochestown by request.
