From 1 January 2026, the British Horseracing Authority introduced a new licensing requirement for racehorse syndicators, designed to strengthen standards, transparency and governance across the sport.
We’re pleased to confirm that Pompey Ventures has successfully met all requirements and has been formally approved as a licensed BHA Syndicator under this new framework.
What is the BHA Syndicator Licence?
The licence has been introduced to ensure that syndicates operate responsibly and in line with best practice. It covers areas including:
Clear and transparent syndicate agreements
Proper handling of owners’ funds
Defined governance and management responsibilities
Compliance with the BHA Syndicate Code of Conduct
In a nutshell, it's about protecting owners and maintaining high standards across racehorse ownership.
What does this mean for Pompey Ventures owners?
For us, this doesn’t change how we operate day to day — it simply provides our owners with reassurance that:
Our syndicates are run in line with the latest BHA regulations
Transparency and fairness remain central to how we operate
Ownership with Pompey Ventures continues to be structured, compliant and professionally managed
It also reflects what has always been important to us - making ownership enjoyable, well organised and straightforward.
Looking ahead
While the licensing framework itself is new, our approach isn’t. From day one, we’ve focused on running our syndicates properly, communicating openly and making ownership as rewarding as possible - this approval simply formalises the standards we already work to.
If you ever have any questions about how our syndicates work, or want to chat through ownership in a bit more detail, just drop us a message — we’re always happy to talk racing!
