Lot 241 - Soldiers Call x Maybride
Mayday Mayday - a very exciting Filly for 2025 and beyond!

This Soldiers Call Filly was one of our top picks at the breeze up sale earlier this year and we were delighted to secure her for a winning bid of £22,000 when we would have paid over double that! A gorgeous filly from a great Cheveley Park family, she has a beautiful physical with strength and power, part of the reason we knew we had to take her home with us!
She is from the family of Ayr Gold Cup winner and black type performer SIGNIFICANTLY(rated as high as 103) who was also trained by Karl Burke. Also closely related to SALVUCCIO (currently rated 97) trained by George Boughey. It’s safe to say this page has plenty to it!
The dam, Maybride was a smart performer in her day with a Peak OR of 92 and siblings rated in the high 90s and 100s. She has already produced 2 winners from 2 Foals in racing and we are confident MAYDAY MAYDAY can continue this trend. The dam done her winning at the very back end of her 2YO career and into her third year which is what we would expect from our filly and we purchased her in the knowledge that she would need time, expecting her to be a horse for the latter part of the year.
From experience we know that horses purchased from the breeze up sales are generally pushed hard early on and this can often cause set backs, as was the case with "Mary" as she is known at the stable. She showed some promising signs post breeze ups before a short set back, so we have given her the time she needed to progress and develop after her initial purchase. She is looking to be back to her best now and we genuinely feel this delay could well have been a blessing in disguise. She has had plenty of time to grow and strengthen further, which aligns with her pedigree that shows she will be better as a 3 year old and we are delighted with the progress she is making.
She is a good bodied filly, with a strong hind quarter, moving very well and now building up to fast work. We are expecting her to make her debut towards the end of January and would expect her to be a filly who can take part in some of the higher end races in the fillies programme for the upcoming turf season.
With her being ready for the track around January time, now is the perfect time to get involved and be on the track with her in the new year!
"The whole team at PV really are buzzing to get her on the track and find out just how good she is!"
